Honorary Chairperson

As Honorary Chair of the 36th Annual USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum it is my pleasure to invite you to Tampa, Florida September 13th-15th, 2012 to attend the 2012 USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum.

Located In the heart of Tampa’s entertainment district there will be a multitude of things to do when not attending a forum function. The Tampa Bay Convention Center is located on beautiful Tampa Bay. You can walk the river walk and enjoy the many sites along the water, you might want to enjoy a relaxing dinner cruise on Tampa Bay, or one of the many restaurants located in the immediate area.

Many of your forum evaluations from the 2011 Anchorage Forum said that our forum needed a facelift, new ideas, and that you were not getting your money’s worth. Under the direction of General Chair PCC Polly Voon, the planning committee has listened and this year’s forum will start to show a new look. Rome wasn’t built in a day and this Forum will not be totally changed overnight but the “CHANGE” has started and you will like it!!

Following the Forum theme of “Leadership in a World of Service”, the seminars committee has developed a menu of exciting seminars – the sessions will wet your whistle with new ideas to take back and implement within your club. Some of the usual seminars are back due to popular request and many new seminars will be offered - everything from a lesson in Lions Ethics to how to use Social Media to benefit you and your club. For the first time our Past International Presidents will be presenting several seminars ranging from giving their interpretation of my Presidential Program to keeping yourself engaged in Lionism – you will enjoy their expertise and insight into Lionism.

The host committee is planning a fun night on Friday evening for all to enjoy – get down and party with your Lions friends.

Come early or stay late. Tampa is located in or near some of the best attractions offered anywhere in the USA. Disney World is just an hour and a half away, BUSCH Gardens is next door, and the Gulf of Mexico is 45 minutes to the west. Needless to say, Florida is a golfer’s paradise and the Tampa area is peppered with some of the United States best golf courses to test your skills.

So plan now to join us In the Sunshine State in September 2012.
